Ryan Stoll is an American Bass-baritone known for his charismatic and energetic performances on the opera stage. Ryan has enjoyed singing a diverse and sometimes eclectic repertoire ranging from obscure Russian masterpieces, (Prince Gudal in Rubinstein’s The Demon) to creating roles in world premieres and opera workshops (Charlie, The Crash; Bindy McCall, Roscoe; etc.)
Ryan is based in Germany and has delighted audiences here since 2022, first with his debut as Sir Colonel Francis Chesney in Charleys Tante, and later as Maestro Spinelloccio in Gianni Schicchi, and Charlie in the World Premier production of Russel Hepplewhite’s The Crash, for which he was praised as “a Bass with huge volume”-Die Deutsche Bühne and TheaterPur.net said “...really flexes his vocal muscles.” His work in Germany, to date, have all been with the Oldenburgishes Staatstheater, where Ryan will continue his work this season as Der Adler in Walter Braunfels’ Die Vögel.
Career highlights include: Jailer in The Trial at Rouen with Odyssey Opera and Boston Modern Orchestra Project (GRAMMY Nominated for Best Opera Recording in 2021 and available on Spotify and Youtube); Colline in Boston Opera Collaborative’s innovative production of La Bohème at Turtle Swamp Brewery; and Guy Cotter in the epic, larger than life Everest by Joby Talbott and performed with Chicago Opera Theater at Chicago’s Harris Theater. Ryan has also enjoyed singing Masetto(Don Giovanni), Hajny(Rusalka), Dottore Grenvil and Barone Duphol(la Traviata), and l’Imperial Commissario and Zio Bonzo(Madama Butterfly) among other various new works and operatic staples.
Ryan participated extensively in America’s best opera training programs including time at: Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Chicago Opera Theater and Sarasota Opera.
