Before moving abroad, Ryan had extensive training and professional performance experience at home in America. Some of his favorite roles include, Colline in la Boheme with Boston Opera Collaborative, Guy Cotter in Chicago Opera Theater’s thrilling production of Everest, Hajný in Rusalka with Steamboat Opera, and his multiple opportunities to study the role of Mr. Flint, Sailing Master in Benjamin Britten's Billy Budd.  Ryan has been involved in several successful new opera workshops and world premieres, including work on Dan Shore’s Freedom Ride, The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing by Justine Chen, Roscoe by Evan Mack, and multiple projects with the Vanguard Initiative as a member of Chicago Opera Theater’s young artist program.
