ABOUT
Ryan Stoll moved to Oldenburg, Germany in the Fall of 2022 to continue his career as an opera singer. Since making the leap, he has performed in a wide variety of productions. Highlights include his German Debut as Sir Colonel Francis Chesney in the witty operetta Charley’s Tante, he was also a featured Bass Soloist in Felix Mendelsohn’s Elias, the Bürgermeister in Chess, and as one of the hilarious Lerchenauer and the Hausknecht in Der Rosenkavalier. He has been fortunate to make all of these appearances at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater where he quickly found a home. In the 2023/2024 Season Ryan will continue employment in Oldenburg, reprising his role as Bürgermeister and Sir Colonel Francis Chesney, as well as creating the role of Charlie in The Crash, a world premier production created by Nils Braun with music composed by Russel Hepplewhite focusing on the aftermath of the US financial crisis in 2008.
Before moving abroad, Ryan had extensive training and professional performance experience at home in America. Some of his favorite roles include, Colline in la Boheme with Boston Opera Collaborative, Guy Cotter in Chicago Opera Theater’s thrilling production of Everest, Hajný in Rusalka with Steamboat Opera, and his multiple opportunities to study the role of Mr. Flint, Sailing Master in Benjamin Britten's Billy Budd. Ryan has been involved in several successful new opera workshops and world premieres, including work on Dan Shore’s Freedom Ride, The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing by Justine Chen, Roscoe by Evan Mack, and multiple projects with the Vanguard Initiative as a member of Chicago Opera Theater’s young artist program. He also appeared as a young artist with Chautauqua Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Saratoga, Sarasota Opera, and Des Moines Metro Opera.
